Next Time Lucky Lessons of a Matchmaker by Siggy BuckleyWon this book in a contest and tried 3 + times to get into reading this. Thought I'd like to find out how the dating online services work-not that I'm in the market for them.
Just like to understand why others turn to the service and pay money. The book is based out of Ireland and I had a problem with the slang as it's not explained and there seems to be more of a sex scene then a relationship bond. Gonna pass on reading this one.

NEXT TIME LUCKY Lessons of a Matchmaker edition by Siggy Buckley Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Next Time Lucky - How to Find Your Mr. Right is an extremely well-written book. Author Siggy Buckley, who actually ran a dating service in Ireland, captured my attention from page one and, had work not gotten in the way, I would have finished it in one day. One thing I can say for Siggy's heroine, Cherie, she sure is tenacious in her search for love, even though she had to go through a lot of weird guys along the way i.e., kissing a lot of frogs.
Divorced with a teen-aged son and daughter, the book begins with her pilot/boyfriend breaking up with her. Feeling somewhat lonely, she realizes she wants to share the best of her life with the right man, not just a boyfriend who sees her as a trophy on his arm. Initially, Cherie doesn't know what she truly desires, until the process of dating finally exposes it. She wants friendship, security, love and great sex; and hey! What's wrong with that. She's willing to travel from country to country to find her soul-mate.
Let me warn you here, though, this is one racy book and the author is not shy in sharing the physical aspects of each relationship as it unfolds. (Her humorous re-telling of those events to girlfriends only adds to the believability of the story ... any of us women might be less frank about some of the more embarrassing details.) What comes through is Cherie's vulnerability, fearlessness and her willingness to put herself out there, and go after what she wants. In the book, she likens herself to the Tumbler Doll, rolling backward and forward no matter how far down you push her. Firm in her resolve, she gets back up time and time again.
The journey introduces her to Gerard ("I want you to live only for us and our love") whose interest was short-lived and who became incommunicado; Clyde, who described himself as cuddly, a euphemism for obesity; men who drove flashy sports cars with the flashy clothes to match - and men who didn't. Both types were a disappointment to her.
Of the various men who slipped through her fingers (or, who were flung from her hands, I should say), Leo made me the most uncomfortable. He took her to a condo full of clutter and dust. Clearly, the word cleanliness was nowhere in his vocabulary. Even his picture with Hugh Heffner hanging on the living room wall could not make up for all his bad habits, including lying about the fact that he was still 49 (maybe he had been in the photo he'd posted online). Her scrambling to make her exit the next morning found me cheering her on, hoping she'd get away before his return. "Run, Cherie, run," I was thinking.
The strangest of all was Chuck, who declared he wanted to marry her on the first day of their meeting, wanting her to move into his house. He continued to declare it, while ignoring her in favor of petting his dog, stating that was how he relaxed. On- and off-again, Chuck continued to declare his intent to marry her, while putting everything and everyone else in front of her so far as priorities go.
Throughout the book, you see Cherie's sense of humor and her intelligence as she assesses and reassesses her progress in the dating world. When we finally meet Alec, he seems to be the real deal, as if - at long last - she has finally met the man of her dreams. Later you learn he is not financially responsible and certainly not husband-material. When he begins questioning how she is spending her hard-earned money AND when he declares he does not have a credit card and she has to pay, that spells the end of their relationship.
From one relationship to the next, it makes one question the possibility of attaining great love AND great sex ... with the same person. Sometimes, if you "get lucky," you can!
From one creatively written story about a series of interesting encounters to the next, she makes her way to America and, by chance, after investing in an Orlando investment property, the universe finally delivers Connor to her, the man she had been asking for/waiting for her entire life. As the line in Joe Black explains it to both Connor and to Cherie as they were questioning how they could have a life together, "Something will come to us."
Something surely did. Everything she'd read about true love and compatibility finally manifested itself in this man. Seems she was lucky after all.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. You can't stop reading for wondering what escapade Cherie will get herself into next...all in her pursuit of love. The only thing that detracted from reading this were the formatting errors in the ebook...overlook those and you'll definitely enjoy this book!
A rollicking romp to find Mr. Right from all the Mr. Not-so-Rights. Written with wit and humor and a keen insight into human nature, this book is easy and fun to read. The heroine is 'of a certain age' but still vibrant and beautiful and full of the kind of verve that any man would be lucky to encounter. Her quest takes her to various countries and the reader gets to experience different ways of living and loving. All in all, a great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Siggy Buckley's words took me from country to country as her main character searched for love through many means. This book will take you on an endless journey of plane trips, car rides, train stops...all to meet Mr Right and not just Mr. Right Now. The writer gave wonderful visualization to her many characters and her never ending quest for love. A great mix of wit, humor, and intrigue, made "Next Time Lucky" a very enjoyable read!! Well done!!!
In a nutshell, this book is about the ups and downs in the business of life as well as how it led to the ins and outs of Cyber dating. Cherie, the main character, has an interesting road to hoe after life throws obstacles her way.
I found the book informative on International rules regarding marital status, relationships, and matchmaking among other things.
A note of warning, this book is not for the faint of heart or the Young Adults. It is a page turner that is best read in bed under the covers.
Wow! This story really gripped me, since I have quite a few friends who indulge in romantic Internet connections. Parts of the story were funny, while other parts were frightening. In the frightening parts, there is a message to those people who follow through with Internet matches. I think the most outstanding lesson to be learned is You can't find what you are looking for until you stop looking. Great book! It was entertaining, well-written, and for some us, extremely educational. I loved it!
